One of the highest needs of Man is to feel protected and secured. Safety and security is an important aspect of human life that must be valued with intense care. I’ve seen people do crazy things at the expense of securing protection, they will go lengths and travel thousands of miles to feel secured if that’s what it takes.
We live in times where all manner of disease outbreak is constantly taken into record even as we speak, terrifying news on radio stations and TV screens about attacks on human life and property is on the rise from our homes to public environments, to offices, even to our churches. From climate challenges to natural disasters to so much more, perhaps your heart is heavy, fear has grasped hold of you and somehow you can’t help but wonder: “Will God ever protect me and my loved ones from all these?”
Maybe you had your travelling plan totally thwarted and cancelled because of some civil problem in your country or wherever you are from. But friend, that is not the best way to live life. God does not want you and I living under bondage, not to mention fear of our own safety.
We have God’s assurance of protection and salvation clearly written in His word. Psalm 91:1
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God and I trust him”
As long as you are born-again, God has qualified you to enter the secret place of the Most High by Jesus’ finished works on the cross. We see the Apostle Paul in Romans 8:32 “He who did not spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with Him freely give us all things?” all things here mean all things and protection inclusive.
Now, the concept of the secret place may not necessarily mean a geographical location. Although a man can create a physical location as a terminal for meeting with God. The secret place is a spiritual state that a man can take, that allows him to access where God is and out of the many things we can access from the secret place, one of them is protection as seen in Psalms 91. Ephesians 2:6 made us understand that we are seated together with Christ in Heavenly places unraveled by his Love and mercies.
I remember growing up as a young boy. My mother always reminds me to read the psalms especially when I’m at school because she believes that there’s an anointing that comes with it. She instilled the need for prayer over my life right from a tender age and I am always grateful to her for that.
Perhaps, you’ve never felt God’s closeness to you. Perhaps your view of God has always been that of an angry God waiting to pounce on you whenever you fail. Friend, that is not the truth in (1 John 4:8, 16) tells us that God Himself is Love, Micah 7:18 tells us how He pardons and forgives our sins.
One way or the other we will fail God because we are imperfect people but God’s heart of love and protection towards us can never change. Nothing whatsoever would change God’s heart towards us we see (Romans 8:38-39) that not even life or death would. When we position ourselves to have revelation of God’s love for us, our fears will all be driven away (see 1 John 4:18 AMPC).
As discussed earlier, we live in perilous times and we do not know when all this chaos and evil will stop. But if Christ tarries, we can live above fear and terror when we know how much we are loved by the one who made the Heavens and the earth. So instead of giving room for fear, you can meditate upon his love and everlasting kindness then the realities of the secret place will manifest in your life.
